RE: Never thought I'd lust after a toy hauler...

Do it! You will never regret it. And, you will NOT smell the gas and oil from your bikes (unless they are in total disrepair and leak all over). Once you unload them it is a non issue. I load mine and travel with them full of gas and never even turn off the gas valves. Been doing this for nine years now. Never ever a problem. Do it! You will never regret it. Oh yeah, I already said that. LOL

RE: October ATV riding & camping in Utah

Need ideas fast. We want to get out one more time this year over UEA weekend, October 11th. Wife wants to be in the trees, but we don't want to freeze. Any suggestions anywhere in Utah? Thanks, Randy Piaute Trail or Moab... although places on the Piaute trail in the higher eleveations might get a bit chilly this time of year. Or some of the places around St George... Coral Pink sand dunes or Sand Hallow reservoir and sand dunes. A lot of great places to ride.

RE: Cyclone 3950 & SRW F 350 ?

Why do so many insist on buying SRW trucks to haul large trailers/fivers? Its atool not a toy, you want a big trailer/fiver buy the appropriate truck to pull it. For all you "its hard to park and can't go to the carwash" people, my wife has done it for 4 yrs without any mishaps, She used to drive a Isuzu sub compact. BTW She gets through most fast food joints just fine. Most people already have the SRW truck when they start looking for the trailer. And, I've heard many say they need to use the vehicle as a daily driver and don't want a dually for that. There's nothing wrong with trying to maximize the use of an investment (expense) like a diesel truck. It's perfectly understandable that somoene would ask this very straight-forward question about how safe and feasible his existing SRW truck would be with a new big 5er TH. He nor anyone else is "insisting" as you say, on buying a new SRW truck.

RE: Hello from a newbie....with a question

You should be aware, if you're not already, that WW has gone out of business. That is not to speak to the quality (or lack of such - in some people's minds) of their trailers. They are still available on the market as you seem to have an opportunity to buy one. Do your reserach and make your decision with all the facts. Some would look at this as an opportunity second to none to get a WW for a great deal hopefully, while others would use it as a reason to stay away from them. Good luck in your choices.

RE: Weekend Warrior Back in Business

As far as I know, they are not still in business. Their assets are being liquidated by the creditors. Gaurds have been posted at gate and building entrances and exits to keep the assets "safe."

RE: Toyhauler - NO carpet!

We don't mind the carpet that can be rolled up and taken out, we just don't want anything that's glued down. Our camper now has carpet in both bedrooms and the living/dining area and we have a hard time keeping it clean when we take it on trips with our bikes. I've never seen a single toy hauler where the carpet was glued down in the storage adn kitchen areas. I don't think you will find this to be a hurdle if that is one of your major issues.

RE: Pictures 40ft Toyhauler in Eastern Sierra

Wow! Very nice pictures. Where exactly is the Eastern Sierra? What town or population "center" or "small town" would be considered the staging point for that destination? That looks like a very fun trip. Was there riding out of that campground? Or, did you not take your toys on that particular trip?

RE: Cyclone 3950 & SRW F 350 ?

Can you pull that trailer and stop it with the 350? Yes. Can you do it safely? Yes. Would the dually be more stable? Yes. Most trailers like the 3950 are being pulled and stopped with SRW trucks. Many people are doing it and many of them feel totally safe and adequate. Others have switched becuase they didn't feel safe. You just have to decide if for you the margins are acceptable. And, the Cyclone 3950 is one of the final two or three trailers I'm trying to decide between. I really like it. It seems like a great trailer. It's built on 12" I-beam frame, where many are on 9". All the drawer and cabinet hardware is residential ball-bearing quality. And many other things I'm sure you already know. Good luck with your choices.

RE: I need some opinions please

hope they have a good set of tires to haul four ATV's in it. Forest River doesn't use quality tires on their stuff. That's a crock. Forest River was using 16" E rated tires long before most other manufacturers. Unless they have seriously downgraded what they are putting on their new units... the tires they use are fine.

RE: Ranking the Toy Haulers

If I were you I would look at the following trailers for good to great quality for the money (you have to understand this is relatively speaking of course.... because most RVs are not of a very high quality... just the reality of the industry right now). Heartland Cyclone (some of the best new creative floorplans) Keystone Raptors and Fuzions KZ New Vision I'm not really familiar with the quality of NextLevel, although I've heard they are nice. I just didn't like their floorplans and color combinations. As for GearBox... I don't think they are in the same class of traiers as the ones above.

RE: Advice Needed- Which Toy Hauler and What to tow it with

As you've heard from almost everyone else... no way with your truck and that trailer. Since you've asked... I would go with a Chevy Duramax and Allison combination. The best pulling combination in this class of truck IMO. Having said that... I think all of the newer trucks would do a fine job for you if sized appropriately. But if you do your research carefully and look at the independent and hands-on reviews and analysis... Duramax / Allison all the way! Even after Ford and Dodge came out with their upgraded motors and transmissions to try and compete better with the two or three year old Duramax/Allison design... they still fall quite a bit short. Look at the specs and find out for yourself. Good luck with your choices.

RE: Equalizer hitch

I've never taken mine off. I've had it in some fairly rough areas but mostly on paved or well graded dirt roads. I agree with above comment that they are referring to "off road" pulling through washes and over steep inclines with sharp drop offs, etc. Unless you are in this type of terrain, I wouldn't worry about taking your bars off. You will love the Equalizer.. it is a great hitch system. Good Luck!

St Anthony over Labor Day

Will any one be up a St Anthony over Labor Day? I called the SandHills Resort today (my wife and girl like the grass there compared to the other two main campgrounds up there) and they still have many full hook-up sites still available. In years past that was unthinkbale this late. I guess the fuel costs are keeping people away.

RE: Stellar or Sandsport by Forest River

I have the Forest River T28 trailre in my signature. I was going to get the T29 and at the time had a 3/4 ton suburban with 4.10 rear end. It was too big for that so I went with the one I have. My trailer is smaller and lighter than that trailer and I eventually made the decision that it wasn't safe to pull it. I upgraded to the Duramax. There is no comparison. I don't think you will be happy with the Suburban pulling that big of a trailer... and it's probablly not very safe. I would highly reconsider. As for the quality of Forest River. Mine has been fine. I think a great trailer for the money. It's not the top of the line and definitely not even close to the bottom of the line. I haven't had any major issues, just a few minor things that were easily fixed and I think totally common with any brand you go with. Good luck in your decision.

RE: WW Alternatives

So I've found an 08 FSC2800 for 30k. Aluminum sides, but everything else how we like it -- 5.5k gen, 40 gal fuel station, even in the colors we like. Thoughts? Are you a gambler?

RE: WW Alternatives

There is no alliterative for the WW, either you have a WW or you wish you had a WW. Do yourself a favor and go look at all the other "WW want-to-be trailers" and you will see what I am talking about. There are plenty of new ones still out there all over and many used ones just like your looking for. I just did the exact same thing you are going through and looked at everything and said screw it and got another WW a month ago. Is Elvis still alive too? There are several trailers as good or better than WW. They have been having quality and customer service issues for a long time. Look at Cyclones, Fuzions, Raptors, KZs... Do your homework and you'll be happy.

RE: Heartland Toyhaulers

I was gonna get the Cyclone 4012 at first but I didnt like that you cant get the garage area larger then 12'. I tow alot of toys and if i went with a garage unit, it would have to be in the 15-20' range. That was my only dislike about the trailer though. Heartland makes a Cyclone 3914 that has a 14' garage. I don't think there is another mfr that makes a 20' garage in a big TH like that...

RE: 2008 KZ Inferno

Nice........KZ is moving to the front of the class in Toy Haulers. Congratulations. I know you have a KZ and made the comment they are moving up. I've heard they are nice units. How do they compare with the Cyclones. There are a number of things I really like about the Cyclone. Are the KZ built on 12" I-beam frames? What are the four or five key differentiators for the KZs in your opinion? Thanks!
